2017 was an important year for the NBA’s Development Team, the G-League. A title sponsor for the league was secured and four new clubs joined the roster, adding to an already impressive number from previous years. And in December in DC, the Washington Wizards announced the new branding and logo for their forthcoming G-League team, The Capital City Go-Go, which will be the league’s 27th club. The club’s new home will be the Entertainment and Sports Arena in St. Elizabeths East. The state-of-the-art venue will also be home court for the Washington Mystics and the training facility for the Washington Wizards. It will also host community events and will feature retail amenities and resources.
“We take great pride in working with EventsDC and Monumental Sports, and our partners at ROSSETTI, to bring this unique venue to Congress Heights,” said MMD Design Principal Michael Marshall. “As we also designed the Chuck Brown Memorial in DC, the new name of the G-League team in Washington is one we embrace,” he added, recognizing the godfather of Go-Go music.
The Entertainment and Sports Arena is scheduled to open in 2018.
