Reflections on a Career in Architecture

As we close out Black History Month, we share an interview with our own Michael Marshall, featuring reflections and advice for young architects of color. Over the course of his more than three decades as an architect, he has personally mentored more than 150 students of color.

One piece of advice: expanded coursework in the study of history and the arts. “Understand history….history is so tied obviously to architecture, the expression of different cultures comes through their architecture, through their environment, through their art, through their music.”
