Virtual Vibes Surviving to Thriving Brand Identity

Virtual Vibes Surviving to Thriving Brand Identity

In 2020, the DCPS Office of School Improvement and Supports, Social Emotional Academic Development, reached out to the MMD branding team to help brand a virtual conference for male and female 6th - 12th grade students.

In a time when all learning was happening virtually and many students were feeling overwhelmed, isolated and anxious, the DCPS team wanted to help students connect and take advantage of learning and community to ensure they not only  "survive" but also "thrive" in this unprecedented environment. The goal of the conference was to "create a virtual space for young men and women to connect, be empowered and heal."

The MMD design team created an iconic logo treatment that featured powerful colors and a male and female silhouette. The design was meant to feel celebratory and to generate excitement.  An informational flyer was designed, as well as program agenda materials. Social media graphics were created to be used in the social media campaign leading up to the event, to spread the word and encourage students to register. Additionally, promotional materials, such as t-shirts, were designed and used as giveaways.

In a time when so many young people are struggling with the challenges of online learning and missing opportunities to engage with their peers, this event was a welcome respite.  As with so many of our MMD clients, the design team was grateful for the opportunity to use design for engagement and purpose.
