This Potomac, MD residence achieves the client’s desire to live in a traditional style home. As part of a gated community, the house forms a forecourt that positions the entrance and the garage doors as a semi-public place. As the house wraps around this courtyard, the design enables the volume and forms of the home to have a variety of roof lines, resulting in a picturesque quality of being built over several years. The inspiration of this design comes from a manor house located near the Chateau Chenonceaux in the Loire Valley of France.
