For the third consecutive year, the MMD branding team produced Progressions, the official magazine of Prince George’s Community College (PGCC). This year’s issue marked a significant milestone, celebrating 65 years of history and academic excellence. Collaborating closely with the College’s Office of Communications and Marketing and the Office of Institutional Advancement, MMD developed a comprehensive editorial calendar and conducted an extensive series of interviews with alumni, faculty, and staff.
With a stronger emphasis on narrative, personal anecdotes, and testimonials, this edition saw the largest number of interviews ever conducted for the publication. The year’s theme, “65 Faces of PGCC,” spotlighted 65 exceptional individuals whose lives were shaped by the College. Unlike previous editions, which incorporated a broader range of editorial content, this issue was anchored in personal stories and career milestones, offering a deeply human-centered perspective on PGCC’s legacy.
The design team brought these stories to life with striking photography, bespoke illustrations, and a dynamic mix of layout styles, infographics, and pull quotes. This visual approach ensured that Progressions was not only engaging but also an immersive reflection of the College’s profound impact. A signature element of this edition was the thoughtful integration of contemporary and historical photography, woven into provocative collages that honored the institution’s past while looking ahead to its future.
The magazine’s graphic and typographical choices were carefully curated to embody PGCC’s evolving identity, seamlessly blending tradition and modernity. Through a rich interplay of visuals and storytelling, MMD captured the essence of six decades of educational excellence, innovation, and community building. Progressions not only commemorates what has been achieved but also envisions the future that the PGCC community will continue to shape.
