DC Public Schools approached MMD to design a logo for their Male Educators of Color Collaborative (MEOCC). MEOCC was launched to be a source of fellowship and professional development for male teachers of color.
The initiative was started a few years ago to affirm, engage and uplift this group of educators by creating safe spaces that address key barriers faced, such as access to rigorous professional development and fellowship. In service of this mission, the MEOCC team organizes professional programming, community service, and fellowship opportunities, organizes networking mixers and shares resources.
The MEOCC team approached MMD because the initiative lacked a clear visual identity, making it more challenging to communicate effectively, galvanize support and build awareness. The MMD branding team created a mark that would clearly align with the DCPS brand, with strong typography and powerful symbolism that builds camaraderie and pride.
