For the 11th consecutive year, MMD was honored to design the annual school calendar, continuing it's transformation into a meaningful piece of visual storytelling in addition to being a critical organizational tool for the District. Inspired by the charm of handwritten letters and postcards, this year’s design aimed to evoke a sense of warmth, nostalgia, and personal connection within the school community.
The creative process focused on a handcrafted feel, with illustrations that mimic the texture and charm of vintage postcards, complemented by hand-painted elements and stationery-inspired details. Thoughtfully chosen typography and soft, framed borders further enhanced the intimate, personalized aesthetic, making each page feel like a cherished note from one community member to another.
Beyond functionality, the calendar was designed as a visual reflection of shared moments and future aspirations. Each month features a handwritten card from different members of the educational community, collected by DCPS staff, and carefully framed within compositions and color palettes that foster a sense of belonging and connection. These design choices bring every writer’s note to life, ensuring the calendar is not just a scheduling tool but a daily reminder of the relationships that unite the school community.
This project reflects MMD’s ongoing commitment to thoughtful, emotionally resonant design, and we are proud to continue this long-standing partnership in crafting a piece that feels both purposeful and deeply personal.
