ESA Wins DCBIA Community Impact Award

ESA Wins DCBIA Community Impact Award

The Entertainment & Sports Arena in Congress Heights was honored yesterday evening at the DCBIA Annual Achievement Awards. The project was selected to receive the Community Impact Award.  “The story of the Entertainment & Sports Arena started with the vision of the Mayor,” said Events DC’s Greg O’Dell in a video tribute to the project.  Mayor Bowser accepted the award and spoke about her Pathways to the Middle Class, aimed at advancing opportunities across all 8 wards of the city.  “We committed to building a safer, stronger DC, to promoting and defending our DC values, to expanding opportunities for our students and providing more families with the resources and support they need to thrive, and to building more pathways to the middle class for residents in all eight wards,” she has said about the mission of her initiative.

2019 marks the 35th anniversary of the DCBIA Annual Achievement Awards. In addition to the Community Impact Awards, The Developer of the Year Award went to Brookfield Properties and the Government Sector Award went to Todd Lee, of the DC Housing Finance Agency.

Two members of the MMD team, Michael Marshall and Craig Dean, were on hand to enjoy the festivities.
“We were honored to join the Mayor, our friends at Events DC and many friends and partners in the room yesterday evening to celebrate not only our project but many other great things that are happening here,” said Michael Marshall.  “We want to thank DCBIA for recognizing the impact of the Entertainment & Sports Arena as a ‘transformative project’ for Congress Heights and our entire city.”
