Amazon HQ2 Wins 2024 CoStar Impact Award

Amazon HQ2 has been awarded a CoStar Impact Award for 2024. CoStar’s Impact Awards highlight the commercial real estate transactions and projects that have transformed their markets over the past year. The winners are chosen by independent panels of industry professionals who work in the markets they judge.

“Now in its third year, the CoStar Impact Awards are an incredible opportunity to recognize the real estate projects fundamentally transforming the industry landscape,” said Andy Florance, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CoStar Group. “Our diverse panel of judges worked diligently to identify the most impactful commercial real estate projects across a range of categories that are shaping the future of the industry and the communities in which they serve. It’s an honor to recognize the companies and projects propelling the real estate sector forward.””

Amazon HQ2 Metropolitan Park comprises two 22-story office towers framing a public park and new retail space, part of Amazon’s mission to create a place that not only serves its workers but the broader community.

“This project creates 2.1 million square feet of a mixed-use development of office, retail and public park space. This project is truly transformational and exemplifies a unique opportunity of collaboration between both the public and private sectors,” wrote Bill Stevens, an Impact Awards judge and regional vice president for The RMR Group.

“The Amazon HQ2 development has so many positive high-impact influences on not just the Arlington community, but the greater Washington, D.C. area as a whole.  The cutting-edge architecture, revitalization of a sleepy business district, addition of numerous meaningful jobs and the creation for high-quality amenities for the community, make this a development that will be revered and respected for generations to come,” wrote Caulley Deringer,  managing director at Stream Realty.

MMD was part of the design team working on office and amenity spaces in both towers of the project, as a consultant with Gensler’s regional office.
