The Walkway – Opening

The Walkway – Opening

Marshall Moya Design was selected to design the installation, which was funded by the D.C. Department of Transportation’s Vision Zero Traffic Safety Initiative, the Mayor’s office, the D.C. Council of Arts and Humanities, and Age-Friendly DC. The installation explores the full range of human interaction which occurs on our streets and in public spaces.

The goal is to inspire understanding and respect through reflection and shared storytelling.  The installation is meant to simulate the experience of walking down a busy street, using the form of a Venturi Tunnel. The stories told range from positive to negative, from seemingly harmless to disturbing and threatening.  Visitors to the exhibit are encouraged to provide feedback through a project website that collects survey data and on Instagram.

Do you have a story about a public interaction (positive or negative) to share? Tell us about it here:  TheWalkway or use #thewlkway
