The "Tale of the Dragon Park" is one of the winning designs for the International Chimelong Icon Design Competition in China 2012, earning Michael Marshall Design the Architectural Design Award of Excellence. This visionary project blends architecture and landscape into a seamless experience, creating an iconic destination that embodies strength, good fortune, and protection.
At the heart of the park, the dragon-inspired tower rises dramatically from a landscape of cascading waterfalls and lush greenery. The structure forms the skeletal frame of a magnificent Chinese dragon, its elongated, angular body stretching toward the sky as it gazes over the city below. Massive inclined glass and steel rectangles shape its dynamic form, creating the impression of a legendary creature emerging from the earth. Visitors ascend through grand staircases within these inclined glass chambers, experiencing breathtaking panoramic views of the vibrant cityscape. A laser beam at the tower’s peak symbolizes the dragon’s fire, marking the gateway between Hengqin and China.
At the base of the tower, a thoughtfully designed landscape park enhances the experience, offering a harmonious connection between architecture and nature. The park features vibrant green spaces, serene water features, and a variety of guest amenities, including F&B outlets, a VIP lounge, and guest services. Designed as a family-friendly destination, the park also includes children’s playgrounds, creating an engaging and welcoming environment for visitors of all ages.
With a seamless blend of modern innovation and cultural symbolism, Tale of the Dragon Park serves as a landmark destination that celebrates tradition while embracing the future.
