AIA Northern Virginia and Women in Architecture have partnered with Beyer Blinder Belle to host a series of panel discussions about what firms are currently doing to be more Equitable, Diverse and Inclusive and how we can improve our current practices. Panel discussions will be held in February, March and April.
The schedule is as follows:
February 26: Hear from local firms about how they develop and implement their Equity, Diversity and Inclusion programs
March 25: Learn how firms and architecture schools employ diversity and inclusion in recruiting and marketing
April 22: Hear from a panel of contributors to the AIA Guides for Equitable Practice
MMD’s Michael Marshall will join the March 25th panel discussion, alongside the following:
Bonike Akinsanya, associate and leader with the Human Resources team at CannonDesign. Driven by a deep passion for diversity and equity within the AEC profession, she supports the firm in recruiting and retaining top talent, fostering an inclusive workplace culture, and creating rewarding employee experiences.
Susan Piedmont-Palladino, architect, professor, and the Director of Virginia Tech’s Washington-Alexandria Architecture Center (WAAC), where she also directs the graduate program in urban design. As Director of the WAAC, Susan is committed to design education that is international, interdisciplinary, and individually focused.
Scott Archer, architect, urban designer, and certified planner in BBB’s Washington, DC office.
