WMATA Office
In 2019, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority announced it selected the site near New Carrollton for new office space.
The planned New Carrollton building sits adjacent to the Metro station there, and is being developed by Urban Atlantic. Eventually the plan is for 2 million square feet of mixed-use development to be added to the site. MMD Is Associate Architect, collaborating with Gensler’s DC office, on the project.
MMD continues its multi-state collaboration with Friendship Public Charter Schools by spearheading two DC campuses. Both Southeast Elementary and Middle School, and Ideal Academy are currently under construction and projected to open their doors to new students early next year.
Northwest One
Michael Marshall Design is proud to be on the team delivering phase 1 of the Northwest One development. Scheduled to be completed in summer 2022, phase one will deliver more than 220 new units to the NoMa community, reserving 150 for affordable housing.
The development team consisting of MRP Realty and CSG Urban Partners, as well as the design team of SK+1 Architecture and Michael Marshall Design, is honored to work with DMPED and Mayor Bowser on this new communities initiative project.
Bethesda KID Museum
MMD is designing the newest location and “innovation hub” for the KID Museum, an “educational makerspace” for children, families and educators offering real-time distance learning and interactive programs. A new 28,000 square feet metro-accessible studio is being designed at Bethesda Metro Center and will offer space for programs in coding, robotics, electronics, textiles/fiber arts, 3D printing and more, as well as expanded space for KID Museum educators to collaborate with local schools and community partners.
