ESA Hosts Wizards NBA Draft Party

Since opening its doors last September, The Entertainment and Sports Arena has made great strides towards the development and design team’s goal of bringing in employment,  investment and community engagement opportunities to Congress Heights.

The Wizards put the arena in the spotlight again last week; on June 20th the Wizards held their 2019 NBA Draft party to celebrate their recent picks. The party was free and open to the public, with the first few hundred fans receiving a souvenir t-shirt to commemorate the event. Wizards DC 12 Club Members received access to complimentary VIP areas, which included refreshments and the chance to meet VIP guests at the event. Wizards players Troy Brown Jr. and Jordan McRae made appearances. Additionally, Head Coach Scott Brooks and Senior VP of Basketball Operations, Tommy Sheppard, spoke about the team’s choices in the draft. Later, the team’s Alumni Association held a Q&A session open to all attendees.

“While we were in the midst of designing this state-of-the-art facility this is exactly the type of event we envisioned bringing to the community,” project architect Michael Marshall, Principal and Design Director of Michael Marshall Design said.
